A silicoflagellate plexus associated with Bachmannocena diodon subsp. nodosa from the Eastern Equatorial Pacific (Ocean Drilling Program Leg 138)

چکیده
Upper Miocene (~6 Ma) sediments from a north-south transect of Ocean Drilling Program Holes 848B, 849B, 850B, 851B across the equator in Eastern Pacific record an episode unusual skeletal variability associated with silicoflagellate Bachmannocena diodon subsp. nodosa (Bukry) Bukry, 1987. Skeletons this plexus persisted for between 55,000 and 75,000 years include arch 2-sided basal ring, highly morphology genus. Groups morphotypes were common within plexus episode, occur systematic sequence that is consistent sites. As result study, silicoflagellates previously placed genus Neonaviculopsis Locker Martini, 1986 are now considered part of the plexus.

Paleoceanography of the eastern equatorial Pacific during the Neogene: Synthesis of Leg 138 drilling results
The primary objective of Leg 138 was to provide detailed information about the ocean's response to global climate change during the Neogene. Two north-south transects were drilled (95° and 110°W) within the region of equatorial divergence-driven upwelling (and thus high accumulation rates and resolution) and spanning the major equatorial ocean current boundaries (and thus recording a high-ampli...

Leg 135 of the Ocean Drilling Program drilled and cored eight sites across the Lau Basin and adjacent Tonga Ridge to study the geological evolution of a backarc basin and adjacent oceanic arc and forearc. Six sites (Sites 834, 835, 836, 837, 838, and 839) were drilled within the Lau Basin, each within smaller and narrower (<10 km) north-south fault basins and collectively representing a broad e...
متن کاملOcean Drilling Program Leg 184 Preliminary Report South China Sea
The Asian monsoon system is a major component of both regional and global climate. Evolution of monsoonal climates in southern Asia is linked to the growth of the HimalayanTibetan orogen, the opening and closing of marginal seas, and changes in global climate. The location of the South China Sea (SCS) between East Asia and the “maritime continent” is ideal to record the paleoceanographic respon...
متن کاملPhotographs of Invertebrate Megafauna from Abyssal Depths of the North-Eastern Equatorial Pacific Ocean
A series of RV PROSPECTOR cruises to survey ferromanganese nodule deposits at depths of 4000-5200 meters in the Clarion-Clipperton Fracture Zone of the north-eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean resulted in the acquisition of over 70,000 seafloor images. Real-time television, coupled with 35-mm remotecontrolled still photography, revealed a conspicuous epibenthic invertebrate megafauna of more than...
